Walk in the Park Patrons

IMG_6986Every day in Australia, 30 people hear the words “You have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s”. The tulip is recodgnised internationally as the symbol for Parkinson’s awareness and support for those living with this chronic, progressive and life-long condition.

100 Tulips is an initiative of Parkinson’s Victoria that provides families and friends with the chance to make a real difference to others, while making a special tribute to a loved one, either in celebration or in memory.

You can contribute to our 100 Tulips initiative by becoming a Walk in the Park Patron.

A Walk Patron is a person, business or community group which donates $1000 (minimum) towards our Walk fundraising goal of $150,000.

As with all donations to Parkinson’s Victoria, your Patron donation is 100% tax deductible and can be made as a one off donation or over 2 donations of $500*. In return, Walk Patrons receive an exclusive A Walk in the Park patron lapel pin and a Certificate of Appreciation.

In addition,on the day of A Walk in the Park, Sunday, 25 August, a potted Tulip – the international symbol for Parkinson’s awareness – will be ‘planted’ on the Federation Square stage. Each Tulip will feature the name of one of our Patrons and at the conclusion of this year’s Walk, you’re welcome to take your tulip home.

If you’d like to celebrate someone special with a Tulip Dedication; simply let us know the name of the person you would like to see celebrated and we will include their name on your Tulip.

Become a Walk Patron today or contact Parkinson’s Victoria for more information.

*Please note: To become a Walk Patron your total $1000 donation must be received by Parkinson’s Victoria in full (as one or two payments) prior to A Walk in the Park, Sunday, 25 August, 2013.

Can I bring my sponsorship / fundraising money to the Event and hand it in to Parkinson’s Victoria on the day?

No. Unfortunately we will not be equipped to handle and receipt fundraising money on the day of the Walk.

All sponsorship monies and donations must be banked before or after the event. Please ensure you have banked all your fundraising sponsorship money or have logged it ONLINE by 5PM Thursday, 26 September, 2013.

It’s essential that you bank your sponsorship money and forward your sponsors’ details to Parkinson’s Victoria as soon as possible so we can promptly send out receipts to your supporters. It’s also important so we can keep our A Walk in the Park Fundraising Tally up to date and so we know when we can celebrate the milestone of reaching our fundraising goal!

How do I bank A Walk in the Park sponsorship money / donations?

Fundraising for A Walk in the Park closes at 5pm on Thursday, 26 September, 2013.

When you register for A Walk in the Park, an online fundraising page will be created automatically for you and you will receive an email with your login details.

Parkinson’s Victoria recommends you use your online A Walk in the Park fundraising page to accept donations from your supporters!

Your supporters will receive their tax receipt immediately and you won’t have to worry about collecting cash, banking, or paperwork!

Fundraising ‘offline’ – the good, old fashioned way!

If you prefer to fundraise ‘the old fashioned way’ (by collecting donations face-to-face) you can download A Walk in the Park Sponsorship Tally (with payment details)and use this to keep track of your supporters and their donations.

If you fundraise this way, you must make sure you return all your monies and paperwork to Parkinson’s Victoria before 5.00pm, Thursday, 26 September, 2013.

This is important so we can add your ‘offline’ fundraising to your online fundraising tally, as well as to our total A Walk in the Park tally and, really important, so we can send a thank you and receipt to all your supporters!

What needs to be returned to Parkinson’s Victoria?
